Payne Hicks Beach strengthens construction team

Payne Hicks Beach has further bolstered its Construction and Energy department with the recruitment of former Dundas & Wilson practice head Carl Asser.

Carl's arrival on Monday 16 September follows the recent recruitment of department head Julian Critchlow, who came from specialist construction firm Fenwick Elliott earlier this year to establish the firm's construction offering.

Carl, who is considered a leader in the field having worked at Ashurst prior to his previous firm, brings with him his existing well-established practice. He joins the team to bring it to two partners and three consultants who have capability on both the contentious and non-contentious sides. Managing Partner Peter Black commented ‘Our now well-established Construction and Energy department has been strengthened by the recent arrival of Carl Asser who has a significant following. Carl brings considerable expertise in relation to development and projects based construction advice and complements the existing disputes resolution and contract drafting capability.'

About Carl Asser

Carl has a strong track record in construction, energy and infrastructure, and has advised funds, employers, contractors and consultants in a wide range of non-contentious projects. He has particular experience in procurement strategies and risk allocation, and had acted for a number of high-profile industry names. He has worked in the construction departments of leading London firms, advising notably on flagship projects both internationally and in the UK.

According to Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession, Carl offers "extensive experience" in the sector.
