Stephen provides legal expertise to both UK domiciled and non-UK domiciled clients on their tax position. This includes advising individuals on their general estate planning, especially in relation to inheritance tax and capital gains tax.
He also acts for settlors, trustees and beneficiaries, both onshore and offshore, on the tax efficient creation and administration of trusts. He has a particular interest in setting up Private Trust Company structures in offshore jurisdictions to hold both business and non-business assets for international families.
Stephen works closely with the firm's matrimonial department on the tax and trust related elements of pre and post-nuptial agreements and divorce proceedings, especially where sophisticated onshore and offshore asset holding structures are involved.
As a qualified Chartered Tax Advisor he is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and has contributed to "McCutcheon on Inheritance Tax" and Sweet & Maxwell's "Practical Trust Precedents" in relation to pensions
Stephen was named as one of the "Top 35 under 35" private client advisers by Private Client Practitioner in both 2009 and 2010. In the Legal 500 UK 2012 the directory quoted that Stephen 'remains focused through challenges'.
